The setup

VirtualCast is an avatar-driven live-broadcasting and social platform built specifically for streaming and socializing as a VR avatar, distinct from general-purpose social VR spaces. The platform's own homepage, archived by the Internet Archive on 13 April 2018 — the same day as the notice it displays — states plainly, “We have released VirtualCast,” and instructs new users to join with Windows 10 and an HTC Vive. At that point the site's footer credited two companies directly, not a dedicated VirtualCast entity: Dwango Co., Ltd. and Infinite Loop, Co., Ltd.

What the documents show

A later snapshot of the same site's company page, archived 27 July 2018, shows that a dedicated operating company, Virtual Cast, Inc., was established on 27 July 2018 — more than three months after the April release — with Dwango and Infinite Loop listed as its affiliated companies, and Kentaro Matsui, Infinite Loop's founder, named as representative director. Read together, the two pages document a two-stage rollout: the platform launched in April 2018 as a joint project of its two parent companies, then was formalized as its own incorporated entity that July. A description crediting only Virtual Cast, Inc. with the platform's original launch skips the entities that actually operated it at release.

The craft

For a creator setting up an avatar-based broadcast, the practical detail in these pages is the platform's stated hardware requirement at launch — Windows 10 with an HTC Vive — which anchors VirtualCast in room-scale VR tracking rather than the webcam-based facial tracking most VTuber streaming setups use today. The July company page's listed business, development, operation, and planning of the VR system VirtualCast, frames the platform as a single ongoing product line, not a one-off broadcast, consistent with the April notice describing regularly scheduled programs by that summer.

Keeping the creator in control

Both pages describe corporate entities and named executives, not individual streamers or their avatars; this entry does not extend that corporate detail into any claim about who used the platform or how. The two-stage corporate history is included here because it affects how the platform should be credited, not because it says anything about any creator's identity.

  • Does your platform of choice separate who built it from who operates it the way VirtualCast's first year did?
  • What hardware assumption does the setup guide for your streaming stack make, and does your rig still match it?
  • When a service formalizes into its own company months after launch, what should change in how you cite its founding?

VirtualCast's own archived pages date its release to April 2018 and its incorporation to that July, a distinction that matters for anyone tracing which company actually built and shipped the platform at launch.
